Initially, image-upscaling.net ran only on a small CPU server, which was constantly overloaded. Processing times could take hours due to high demand. To solve this, a powerful GPU was added, but running it comes with expenses.
This is not a profit-oriented service, but it does have costs—about $200 per month to keep everything running smoothly. If donations cannot cover this, GPU processing may not be sustainable, leading to longer wait times as only the CPU server will be available.
Some might ask why not charge $0.50 per user. The issue is transaction fees. PayPal takes a significant cut from small payments—for example, a $1 donation might result in only about $0.67 reaching the service. Instead, one $10 donation is far better than ten $1 donations because more of the amount actually supports the service.
For smaller amounts, you can use my PayPal email at the bottom of the main pages (using the "friends" option voids any fees).
Any support, whether through donations or simply sharing, helps keep this project running. Thank you!
